Book Character Day

 Yesterday the 29th of September, Makaraka School had a book character day. The teachers and the students dressed up as their favourite book character. Malia and Eilidh organised this book character day because they wanted to fundraise for the Salvation Army and the Year 5/6 camp. The whole school paraded around the turf and then the prize giving happened. The junior girls were Thing 1 and Thing 2, and the junior boy was Where's Wally? The senior boys was Max the Motobike rider. The winner of the senior girls were a horse and owner, and rider. The overall winner was a World War 2 soldier. Everyone in the school was so happy

Ollie's Acrostic Poem

This is my acrostic poem about Maia Poroaki. My mum and I watched the story that Miss Moat read. We wrote down parts of the story and then we typed it into my chrome book. I hope you like it. 

Ollie's Structured Literacy sounds. Lock down week 2

This week I am learning about consonant and vowel sounds. Here is my slide to show my learning 

Today l made a ginormous paper airplane with Layla. We used 9 pieces of paper and used sellotape to put it together. We used Mum's phone to make slow motion videos of us throwing the plane. 

We took the plan onto the tramp and it started to rain and the plane got wet and all soggy. 

We had lots of fun playing with the orange and red plane. 

Next time I would like to try a different design and make the plan stronger.

Today we were making pie's I was in pj's group he was making a bacon and egg pie the other two people were Zoe and Nirvana me and p.j were cutting up the bacon Zoe and Nirvana were putting the bacon into the bowl and stirring the bacon in the pan. again and we are going to finish the filling.

on Friday there was a rural school disco there was slushiys and popcorn and pizza and even glow in the dark face paints my one was a mask with different coloured dots around it there was so many cool things like laser lights and even a DJ he playd so many songs.

last week my class was doing posters and the second week after we were going to make pies I was doing a stuffing chicken cheese chilli flakes and gravy pie I'm wondering what it will taste like? hopefully the gravy doesn't pour out when I bite Into it l hope it just tastes very yum and hopefully it doesn't go to Spicy with the chilli flakes now I can't do my pie at school but I can do it at home hopefully I put the pastries in the right places.

                                                                                           today we where tasting herbs my favorite one was chilly flakes my second favorite one was garlic my last favorite one was Rosemary but there's a lot more like mustard seeds and oregano and next week we're going to make pies

Today we were taking photos of are dioramas i did a amazing diorama i wrote kawa kawa is a plant.

kawa kawa it is a tip of plant and it is green it is green and if you put it in the sunlight it will turn light green.

kawa kawa is found in bushes. Kawa kawa can also be used as medicine to.

Today we were playing with magnets we tried guessing what they wood do before we touch them we did the clay first it did move but there was a magnet inside

I went to the fisher's in house groups firs it was yellow and red house after we went to the fisher's we went to kaiti Beach and we found a octopus in the rook pool and Lords of sea snails!

 

  

  

hockey

Today we were practicing hockey it was fun because I haven't played hockey in a year but I was still good because I was the best player in my team! After a year of hockey I didn't like it because I felt too good so I moved on to another sport and it was soccer. Soccer is a lot different to hockey because you use your feet not a hockey stick in soccer and there's a lot of penalties!

Whaea The Kitten

 On Monday Dad went to my Grandad's house to watch the yacht races. Before it started he found three  kittens climbing all over our fox terrier there was one black one and two were Tabby Cats the two tabby cats got away.  When dad got home we started to think of names in the end he came up with Whaea witch is Maori for mother.  We have had so much fun with her and there is so much more fun to have

 today we were practicing our times tables.

this is how you play the game. 

1. draw a circle. 

2. draw a plus in the middle of the circle make sure the ends of the Plus are touching the sides of the circle.

3.now draw numbers in the gaps of the circle.

4.get to counters.

5.find a partner.

6.drop the count is on your bored see what numbers they land on then work the equation out.
